Development opportunity at former Stirchley Leisure Centre site
Telford & Wrekin Council is promoting a development opportunity at the site of the former Stirchley Leisure Centre which will ultimately result in a positive regeneration scheme for the south of the borough.
The leisure centre building was demolished earlier this year and the Council is now hoping to attract inward investment to the site.
The proposals for the 1.1 acre site could include either affordable housing or a supported living scheme.
The site has significant strategic advantages and boasts close proximity to local facilities including the Stirchley Centre, local school, leisure facilities at the Telford Park School, shops and a medical practice.
Development of the former Leisure Centre site will also bolster other planned regeneration schemes in Stirchley Centre including the former Swan Centre and the former Grange Park Primary School sites, both of which are earmarked for residential development.
Councillor David Wright, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for the Economy, Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, said: “This site provides a real opportunity for a positive regeneration project for Stirchley and I am sure it will be well received by the market.
“It is great that the local area is set to benefit from new investment and potentially new jobs and I look forward to watching the new development take shape.”
